EDIT:  Update.  I posted this about 1.5 years and since them I have been watching for one of these.  Well today one showed up here on eBay

Source eBay.  This particular seller has gotten his hands on some really neat pieces over the past few months.  In particular the glow in the dark hungarian horntail wings that I had never seen before.  See below for the original post about this figure from 2015.  This is an awesome looking figure.

Lego Prototype or Test Run Green Goblin Spiderman Red Mask Rare

This weekend I posted a picture from Eurobricks with three rare test prototype colors of Ghosts in it here.  In response to this post, a reader absolutely floored me with this post of a red prototype test run Green Goblin Mask that I had never seen before.

Flickr User Johnny Walker has these images posted to his Flickr Page here.  He said that his awesome wife gave him this as a Christmas present.  What a super super wife.  That would be the best present ever.  Maybe she will find him a Chrome Iron Man this Christmas!

Lego Green Goblin Original Next to Red Prototype Mask

He has a few more images that I will add once I get this main image cached on the site.  This one in particular make me want to start collection MonoChrome minifigures.  Especially the Red Green Goblin and the Yellow one.

Lego Red Prototype Green Goblin Mask with other monochrome figures Updates

You know what this display is missing?  This orange c-3po head.    However, that looks like the orange color may be a little different.  It may also be the lighting.

I quickly looked at Bricklink and unfortunately none were for sale.  However, Bricklink did appear to know about this variation even though I did not.

I have asked the owner for an closeup pic of the mask from and back as well as the inside of the helmet to see the Lego logo and number inside.  This really floors me and this figure is certain to make the top 100 most expensive minifigure price list.  I am going to watch it for a while, but depending on how many exist, I estimate this to be worth between $500 and $750 US.   It should be a little more valuable than the Darth Vader Red Mask.

But I may be completely underestimating this one.  We will need to see how many of these come out of the woodwork and show up on eBay or Bricklink over the next year.

I personally would consider paying $500 without batting an eye for this right now.  So it is least worth that much 🙂

EDIT:  If anyone has one of these in new condition and they would like to trade for a red Darth Vader helmet, I would be interested potentially.  I am just saying.

It would look super awesome in between the two original Green Goblins in my Spiderman collection.

Also, thinking about the numbers, this is most likely the rarest Super Hero Minifigure Variation made to date.

Here is a merge of the three Green Goblins together.  🙁  I need to get better at PhotoShop, but you get the idea!  Looks cool.

Lego Green Goblin Original Next to Red Prototype Mask

Since this original Green Goblin, we have gone on to get at least two more variations of the Green Goblin the newer lines of Marvel Super Heroes.

If anyone else has any other test or prototype rare figures floating around, please let me know.  I am starting to keep track of these, but it is difficult to find them all.
