Official Lego Will.i.am Minifigure – No Kidding. This is real and will be tough to find

EDIT:  Wanted – if you have one of these and are willing to part with it, I will pay $200 each for a few of these for my collection and one of my friends.  Please let me know via email shawn@minifigpriceguide.com if you have one for sale that you would like to get rid of.  I will for sure take up to three of them in new condition with the base plate numbered.    Also, if you have one and do not want to sell and you just want to share information with me, I would appreciate an email as well.    I would also like to see the back of this figure!

I was notified about this during the past week via a Facebook reader.  It appears that Lego made 400 numbered, yes numbered will.i.am minifigures (serialized 1-400) to be given away at “LA’s Best Brunch” (see here)  a few weeks ago.  After some quick google searching and a few messages on forums, here is the basic information that I have been able to obtain.  Please correct me if I am incorrect.

First, after hearing about it and googling for a while, I found this forum post via brickset here.   This came up on google.  I really figured this was a spoof at first.  I have been saying that Lego should number these minifigures for years.  They are missing a certain market by doing this!  Then after some further research and some forum questions, I found the original facebook post.  All I can say is FLOORED.I.AM!

It looks like a Facebook reader David C posted these two pictures on BayLUG facebook group here.

For those of you that do not know who will.i.am is, see this here

See below and notice the Lego Logo and the Serialized base plate.

The Facebook post has a few more pics in it as well.

And for the doubters that are still out their, here is another pic from reddit about a week ago.  See Lego Logo on the back.  Also, an inside source from Lego also verified hat these are real as well as this was a Lego sponsored event.

I also found this one on the “LA’s Best” flickr site.

one more here…

You can read more about “LA’s Best” here.

“LA’s BEST was created in 1988 by Mayor Tom Bradley to address an alarming rise in the lack of adequate adult supervision of children during the critical hours between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. We serve over 25,000 kids at 194 elementary school sites in Los Angeles in neighborhoods most vulnerable to gangs, drugs, crime and at schools with the lowest student test scores.”

Thanks for looking

  1. thee dont appear to have been produced by Lego.. the print looks like digital printing.. you can see the white underlayer on the Lego logo print on baseplate..

    I could easily replicate this..

  2. SO, I took another look. The guy that posted it is a Lego Employee LEGO Education

David Calkins – which I did not realize at first. SO I am going to say that this is real.

  3. i still think it looks digitally printed.. though that doesnt mean lego didnt produce it of course.. its a bit much to expect lego to produce a print for pad printing just for this figure..so maybe they outsourced or used a different method..
the print is totally different than regular lego prints.. it goes to the edge of the torso for a start..something regular lego prints never do

  4. Here’s one I just knocked up 😉
Would need to do the face..and change it to dark brown and not reddish brown.. and slightly re-align the print as it’s a teeny bit off centre..

  5. That is definitely true. I am certain lego outsources these small orders. I have a post on the zombie figure that said what company that they used. I will look it up
