Lego 40268 R3-M2 is a free giveaway in Germany BR store and it is using soft plastic on the Polybag

I heard about a city set on reddit last week that was using soft plastic instead of the hard crinkle plastic that we are used to on our polybags.

I then received these pictures of the R3-M@ Star Wars Lego Buildable Droid and I noticed that this one is also soft plastic as well.  They are a little harder to open without damaging the polybag.  I went ahead and checked the listings on eBay and all of them in the USA and overseas appear to be this softer plastic.  You can see some in the USA here.

This particular set image was sent to me from a reader Jens L on Facebook and he said “Just to let you guys know. It seems like the danish toy store BR (in germany) has R3-M2 polybags for free if you buy any lego star wars”

So, if you are in Germany, go check out BR Toys!

What do you think of this decision by the Lego Group?  Is this just a one off for a few sets, or is this the future?  Do you think that these are an offshoot of the polybags being produced by new machines, or as a cost saving measure?  Maybe this type of plastic is better for the environment.  Let me know your thoughts in the comments below of on the facebook post.

Custom Christo Reverse Flash Daniel West – Is this considered ArtWork?

As I have watched Christo minifigures get better and better over the years, I have started to wonder if his minifigures are almost to the level that they are considered artwork instead of just action figures.  It would certainly explain the crazy prices that these guys go for on eBay. This latest reverse flash minifigure really caught my eye and I thought I would see what you all thought.  Please add your thought on the Facebook page or in the comments below.

You can see all of Christos current auctions including this reverse flash here.

The rarest SDCC Lego Minifigures of them all are not the most expensive

In 2013 when it was announced in USA Today that Lego would be handing out DC and Marvel minifigures as promotional giveaways, by wallet screamed a little.  It screamed a little more when it was announced that the distribution would be as follows.

350 Spider Man

350 Spider Woman

200 Green Arrow

200 Black Suited Super Man

With this in mind, I focused on picking up the Green Arrow and Superman figures first since I knew that they would be the hardest to find on eBay.  They have remained the hardest to find to this day, but they have not remained the most expensive of the batch of four.  It appears that the Marvel figures have increased in value at a higher pace than the DC figures even though the DC figures are almost twice as rare.   I did a quick review on eBay as you can see from the links below.  It looks like 3 of the four are currently available on eBay.  Spiderman is not currently listed.

In this review, I found that Superman, even though it is one of the rarest figures ever produced is still one of the most affordable figures to pick up.  I though it was interesting and that I would share.

Here is a link to the price guide for these guys as well.
