I remember reading about this a few months ago, but I doubted that it would happen. It looks like LEGO will be releasing the first sustainable brick sets made from plant based plastic sourced from Sugarcane. In a bit of irony they are using the plant based plastic to make Leaves, Bushes and trees! lol
It looks like the first set will be obtainable by all and will be a free gift with a $35 dollar purchase and will contain 29 pieces. I wonder if they are edible? JK
Set Number 40320 with 29 parts and made from plastic. I wonder how well these parts will hold up compared to regular lego bricks?
Per LEGO –
“The new sustainable LEGO elements are made from polyethylene, which is a soft, durable and flexible plastic, and while they are based on sugar-cane material, they are technically identical to those produced using conventional plastic. The elements have been tested to ensure the plant-based plastic meets the high standards for quality and safety that the LEGO Group has, and consumers expect from LEGO products.”
Thanks for looking
