Some of you may have seen these before as I found about 100 references to them out on the internet and I myself have come across the pictures a few times in the past.  However, I never knew who created them or what their origin was.  I took a few minutes to figure this out today and I thought that I would share it with you.

According to this article here on designboom.com which was the most concise description that I could find, these minifigures were  created by artists using the Pilot Extra Pens as part of an Ad Campaign created by Grey from Barcelona.

I found a set of these pens over on Amazon US here.  It appears that these are made for the Japan Market only?  not sure why but these appear to be Japanese imports.
