If you are reading this site, you are most likely an avid minifigure collector. And like Peanut Butter and Jelly, you are most likely constantly looking for a way to display all of your minifigures.
This has been a battle for me for years and I am always looking for a new way to display my minifigures. I have recently been using a custom built solution for all of my figures and the large Lego minifigure display cases for the ones on deck while I am assembling the cases.
Here is an example of the cases that I currently use. It is made completely out of Legos, but primarily out of Lego part number 30528. You can see this part on bricklink here. This is the display that I am using for my Lego Movie Minifigures and some of my collectible minifigures.
However, I have been having a real hard time finding the Large Minifigure Display Cases at stores and it appears that they have been discontinued. Currenlty, I have only been able to find a few in either red or yellow at Toys R Us. I am currently using the blue and the black ones only right now.
It looks like this is because Lego is coming out with a new case. This new version of the Large Minifigure Display case has recenly been found over at Smyths Toys in the UK.
On first review of the photos posted, this case looks pretty nice. I will be happy to try a few of these out. I did notice a few things though.
It appears to be a different size that they old version
If you look at the sizes on the new case, it is 19L X 38W X 4H cm. However, the old cases were 42 cm W and only 18c H. I am hoping that this is just a typo and that they will stack with the old ones. Otherwise, that would really make me unhappy.
A few other notable differences are the following.
- It looks like it has two doors that open to the sides instead of one that opens down.
- It looks like the plates are either snap on or permanently affixed to the case? I am not sure and we will need to look at the final product to be sure.
- The cases are clear on all four sides.
- The cases do not appear to come with the feet to stabilize them for standing on a desk? I am not sure about this.
Here is a picture of the new small one on top of the large one as well. It looks like they were designed by this guy.

Here are a few pictures of the old case for comparison.
Finally, as many of you know, I am an avid collector of minifigures. Sometimes, I wonder what my real passion is, collecting the minifigures, or creating and looking for new display stands to display the minifigures.
If not for my wife, I think I may have created a whole wall in my living room to show them all off. I had an idea ones that I still think is a good idea, but it did now go over well with my wife. The idea was to do the following.
“Cut out the drywall inbetween a few studs and put in a nice wood case with shelves on it. Then cover this up with a piece of glass so that you had a recessed case that is flush with the wall and enclosed in glass.”
Oh well, as you can guess, she did not like it. Anyways, her is my virtual collection of every good display case that I have ever found.

Great post – glad to hear there are new cases coming!
But I’m in desperate need of a Large Yellow Display Case for my Simpsons Series 2 mini figures. Can anyone help?!? They’re simply gone up here in Canada.
If you are looking for yellow, my toys r us has them in stock. I could grab for you, but the shipping would be nasty. Let me know.
That would be fantastic! Thank you very much.
Please email me and we can work out the details 🙂

THANK YOU!
Sorry for all the trouble, and thank you for checking your local stores for me. The site is great – and i’ve even found a local seller!
Again – thank you very much!!
Greeting! As feedback I bought two. Now I do not own any of the old cases to comment on how they connect. I can report on the following from using them:
-Clear acrylic walls allows more light in so you can see the figures easier. I cannot say ENOUGH about this feature. It makes everything better.
– There are holes in the back so you can safely hang them on the wall for display and them stack upwards from there.
– The 2 doors snap securely, but are still easy to open so you aren’t jarring your collection when you want to open it.
– The figures snap on a removable 4×4 plate piece which is provided.
NOTE: I built a small riser on that plate so I could snap the provided base plate from my Series minifigs on there. If you have free floating minifigs, the nice part is yuou can get the display plates from Lego individually if you’re like me and a tad OCD about them.
OVERALL: I love them. it was well worth the price and am not at all disappointed. It’s a quality investment.
Thank you for writing this article. And happy collecting, all!
Thanks for the update of your purchase. I am sorry about the late reply, I was not getting notified of these in my email.
Are these cases only available in select markets?
where are you? I know that they are in the us.
