One of the things that I love about collecting Lego minifigures is the variety of Lego minifigures and the Story behind each one of the convention or limited edition site minifigures. I really enjoy scouring the web and trying to locate the history behind them and putting all of the pieces together. Especially when I find one that I missed completely!
BrickPirate 2013 Limited Edition Lego Minifigure – His name is “Sam”
Yesterday, I cam across this minifigure on Flickr here. User Gael Bucher posted this picture of a pirate scene that he found while attending Fana’brique 2016 in France. See here. This is a Lego Show in France that was from June 24th to June 26th.
I reached out to Gael and asked what he knew about this minifigure and he said that it was a an exclusive that was created by the French Lego Forum Brickpirate. See here.

I poked around a little until I came across this here. This was posted in 2013, so we are late to the game and they are all gone. 🙂
I am sad that I missed one, and now I will need to look elsewhere. If you have one that you would like to trade, let me know!
The BrickPirate forum created this minifigure as a limited edition promotional item to help finance their site and servers! Very nice idea! I would have bought one for sure!
“finance the server hosting the forum currently these fees are paid out of personal funds / private and represent a significant burden. Quality accommodation and a good bandwidth are the indispensable conditions to meet the functioning of the forum. The benefits will also support the communication tools of Lego BrickPirate stands at exhibitions, or other goodies projects.”
And here were the details of the figure.
“first, the minifig will be reserved for members of the forum (a minifig per person in the first place). The reservation will be effective upon receipt of payment. Delivery can be made at Lego exhibitions at Mulsanne in May or in June Fanabriques, even to the extent possible when CaféLego and RestoLego / Picnic Lego this summer. Secondly, the sale may be on an auction site (at a fixed price). For those who wish, a mailing will be considered (in letter followed) for € 2 extra.”
I believe that the price was 8 Euros originally, but I am not certain. So if that is the case, it would have been 10 Euro’s with shipping. Such a deal!
I also did a few Flickr Searches and found a few more images of this guy. This is a good looking figure. See them below. These are links to Flickr.
