I think that we already knew this, but it is the first official pictures that I have seen of this.

Lego recently posted the instructions for the Starter set 71172 out on the Lego website here.

I grabbed a copy of it and because I was mostly interested in the building instructions for the minifigures to see if they had any special parts and if they were fused to the base.  Instead, it looks like the base is a normal Lego piece as well.  Interesting.
