A few weeks ago, I posted a small contest to build the Giant Man Minifigure from the New Marvel Super Heroes 76051 Super Hero Airport Battle set from the new Civil War Sets coming out this summer. I have had a few entries, but Barry Donovan from the UK submitted this rocking entry that I thought deserved an early mention. Since it was so good, I am going to send Barry a set and keep the contest open to see if anyone can top it. Possibly building a real one and adding decals? See what you can come up with. I am also going to include the building instructions from Barry’s entry to help get you started. As I said, the contest is still open if anyone can top Barry’s entry. This is a super rare set that we have only see a few of. Not a terribly difficult set to create on your own, but the entire set in the bags with the instructions is a pretty rare items.
This is one that I found on eBay tonight on my nightly browse and I thought you might find it interesting.
Per the seller….
“This RARE LEGO set was produced was produced exclusively for the Ambassador Pass holders at Legoland California in 2011, to celebrate their new Miniland. The set is a Miniland-scale, which is not produced for commercial purposes. “
I expected that these miniland figures would become more popular when Lego started making them a few years ago, but they have not really taken off. Therefore, I think that we will not see more of these other than as rare items. I am guessing that they just do not have the play factor for little kids and Lego decided not to pursue them any further.

I was recently notified of one of these sets by a reader “Floris V” and I started searching for more until I found the second one. Floris V sent me the link to the Jasmine Oil Well and it did not take too much searching after that to locate the Judy as well. Both of these were located on eBay. Here and Here and here.
Here is another Lego Certified Professional set that Bright Bricks has produced. They have quite the machine going. This one is for the Chester Cathedral and is again limited to only 500 sets. I am not sure if this one is sold out or not yet. It was/is only available at the Chester Cathedral Gift shop. I found this one over on catawiki here. I decided to give a search for certified professional on Catawiki a try to see what came up since I am always seeing interesting auction on the Brickset.com site. I have never used Catawiki, but it appears to be a Holland based eBay competitor.
Here is the website for the Chester Cathedral talking about the item. “Only 500 copies have been produced. These will be sold exclusively by the Gift Shop at Chester Cathedral. They will be sold on a first come first served basis. The model contains 1584 pieces and will retail at £99.00 per set.”
Here is some information about the attempt to build a model of the Chester Cathedral as a fund raiser. The article claims that the instruction manual for this model is so large that it is on its way to being in the Guiness Book of World Records!
