Lego 10254 Winter Holiday Train – 734 Pieces and includes 16 track pieces

EDIT: It looks like this was jsut officially revealed over on Lego Facebook here.

Here is the designer Video…

It looks like CM4Sci over at Eurobricks here and reddit here has disclosed the first image of the Winter Holiday Train.  It looks like a pretty simple starter train that should be relatively affordable.   It looks like it includes at least 5 minifigures, 16 track pieces and an engine, 1 car and a caboose.

CM4Sci is disclosing a $99.00 retail price in the US.  He also confirmed the 5 minifigures guess above.    This looks to be a smaller partial replica of the last holiday train set – 10173 – which contained 965 pieces and was released in 2007.  It make sense that it is a little smaller since the price is $99.  The original set from 7 years ago listed at $89.99 and prices have to go up right?  You can see that set here on Amazon at a pretty high price.  I am sure that this is part of the reason that this set is being re-released. Picture of old set below.

Here are the images from the Holiday 2006 Lego Catalog for the 10173 set.  You can see hi res copies of these pics here.

Lego Custom Limited Edition Rainbow Batman looks spectacular

This post and site contains Affiliate links. I may earn a small commission if you click on them. Click here for more details.

I saw this last night over on a Taiwanese Facebook group called Taiwan Lego Club.  You can join the group here.   Additionally, here is the post.  I contacted the poster to see if he knew the origin, but he did not.  He did know in fact that it is not a Christo figure.  He also stated that it is pad printed.   I think that is the only way that you could get the line and colors this crisp on the helmet, but I am not an expert in this area.

If you know who created this figure, or if you did, please contact and let me know.  I would love to hear from you!

The reminds me quite a bit of the Zebra Batman from a few months ago created by Christ.  You can see that here.

I am really impressed at how good the lines look on the helmet.

I quickly checked eBay and I was only able to find one different Rainbow Batman created by Atomic Bricks.  Very similar, but the helmet looks to be hand painted on this one.

Prototype Red Skeleton – Skeletal Horse from 2006

This post and site contains Affiliate links. I may earn a small commission if you click on them. Click here for more details.

I recently received a few images from a reader about a rather rare and obscure Red Prototype Skeletal Horse.  The first thing I noticed when I received this information is that Skeletal is the Lego name for this piece and not Skeleton.  I am not sure I even knew that Skeletal is an English word.  🙂  However, it appears that this is the name used by Lego and Bricklink.

I received these pictures from an Ebay seller that has sold a few prototypes in the past.  Johnnybgood2.  These are from his personal collection.  Ironically, I also noticed this past week that a reddit reader posted an image of one of these as well.  See it here.

Lego released the Skeletal horse between the years of 2007 to 2012.  It is possible that this horse will be released again, but we do not currently know.  This horse has been released in three official colors.  White, Black and Glow in the dark!  See here for reference on Bricklink.

Lego Red Keleton Horse Prototype Minifigure 6

A few interesting items to note about this prototype figure when compared to some of the other prototypes that I have posted about in the past.  This one is not just a color change, but it also has a few structural differences.  Meaning that it used a different Mold completely.

  • The Prototype Red Skeletal Horse figure is marked with the year 2006 and a copyright symbol on the foot.

Lego Red Keleton Horse Prototype Minifigure (3) Lego Red Keleton Horse Prototype Minifigure (2)

Lego Red Keleton Horse Prototype Minifigure (1)

  • The final official Skeletal Horse is not marked with year or the Lego Copyright on the back foot.
  • The final version of this Horse has only upper bones on the neck.  However the prototype version had double sided bones ont he top and the bottom of the neck.
  • The Prototype Red Skeletal figure has thin ankle bones while the final version has thick ankle bones.
  • The prototype version was used on at least two box covers and instruction manuals in 2007.
  • Harry Potter 5378 and Castle 7092.

Lego Harry Potter 5378 4516071_Page_04

Lego 7092 with Prototype Skeletal Horse 4519422_Page_10

Based on these images, it would appear that black and white prototypes exist im very limited quantities as well.

This is is the first time that I have seen a prototype figure that used a different mold.  I am guessing that they had a few issues with the first mold and had to make an new one, but that is just my guess.  That means that this particular part is extra rare when compared to some of the others.

This post and site contains Affiliate links. I may earn a small commission if you click on them. Click here for more details.

This just showed up on eBay and is a pretty impressive MOC.  Please visit the auction to see more pictures.  Per the seller, it is over 7 feet tall and is proper Minifig scale.  You can see it here.

Something special tonight – Lego Brand Retail 2016 Shanghai Store

This post and site contains Affiliate links. I may earn a small commission if you click on them. Click here for more details.

I have been really busy with family all over my house this past week, so I have not posted very much.    I thought I would try to make up for it with a picture of some pretty rare minifigures that I just picked up recently!

EDIT:  I received a few comments from readers.  Here it is below.

“It was a gift to celebrate opening of two LBR shops in first half of this year, Paris in April and then Shanghai in May i think. That yellow brick is printed from both sides 😉 Even the prouction number you have right, aprox 200 girls and 200 boys where made. Gifted only to employees in Lego SMCD Kladno about month ago.”

“They were produced 4 kinds of figures one blond girl in the picture is missing from each type produced only 50pcs of each as a gift only for the builders of large models to newly opened stores in Shanghai and Paris. This is a very rare minifigure.”

and

“It was given not only to model builders, but all people in our building, we all participate, from project planners, developers, designers, warehouse, MB to mechanics who install and complete models on those stores. I am also not aware of any other printed torso then the “Shanghai” version. So if there is “Paris” version, id like to see picture 😀 Actual meaning of that celebration is included in that classic yellow brick with double print, “two shops at once”

I will add a picture of the Paris side of the brick.  I had not included that in the original post.  I was wondering if a Paris variety of this figure also existed as well!  However, from my research, it appears that one does not.

EDIT:  Here is the Paris side of the brick.

20160819_182510

I picked these up from someone close to Lego last week and I was really excited about these.  I am told that about 200 of these were made and this is the first that I have seen of them anywhere.  I took a picture of the front and the back of these so you could see each one.  The girl and the boy are different, the second boy is a duplicate, but I included him to show you the reverse torso.  The duplicate is not mine.  It belongs to someone else.  The person that found these for me.    For the second picture, I just flipped them around so you could see the back.

Obviously from the figures, it looks like they were produced at the Kladno factory.  I am not sure if this was a special event or what.  If anyone know, please send me a message.

Thanks!
